# KNX-MCP - ETS App with an Integrated MCP Server for ETS5 and ETS6

> KNX-MCP is an independently developed ETS App by Gerald Docenko. It integrates a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server directly into ETS5 and ETS6 so compatible AI assistants can inspect open KNX projects and, subject to permissions, make controlled changes through the official ETS SDK.

KNX-MCP is the product name. "ETS MCP server", "ETS MCP" and "KNX MCP" are descriptive search terms for its function, not separate products. KNX-MCP is not developed or published by the KNX Association. KNX and ETS are trademarks of the KNX Association.

The current published product version documented by the developer is KNX-MCP 1.1.0.0 (Release 1), for ETS5 5.7+ and ETS6. It is currently offered free of charge in the KNX Online Shop; refer to the shop for current availability and terms. The shop link below is a search link, not a direct product-detail URL.

Key functions include listing multiple currently open ETS projects, inspecting topology, devices, rooms, group addresses and associations, analyzing project structures, and performing permitted project changes. ETS project data is accessed from within ETS, without requiring an exported project copy. KNX bus telegrams can be monitored and can be sent with permission. Per-tool settings are Allowed, Confirmation required, or Blocked; project-level read-only mode is available. Device programming is blocked by default. ETS changes are tracked as undo steps.

The MCP endpoint is local by default (127.0.0.1), with default URLs http://127.0.0.1:51900/mcp for ETS6 and http://127.0.0.1:51950/mcp for ETS5. Remote access needs explicit configuration and protection. Clients can connect directly or through a compatible MCP bridge or gateway. KNX-MCP does not relay project data through a cloud service operated by Gerald Docenko; an external AI service selected by the user may process data according to its own terms.
